Located by the sea, it is the favourite venue of the Black Sea nightlife. Both Bulgarian cinephiles and Bulgarian filmmakers would enjoy the cocktails of a mastery mixologist, the selected music and the one of a kind ambience that has made of Cubo an oasis for contemporary Bohemians. The slang word ‘cuboism’ is the local version of hedonism, of nights leaving the taste of sea salt and worth telling about.

Still, the truth is that participating in such an event is so funny and rewarding. We’d rather bring together people who’d deem the experience gained in the organisation of a film festival as a fun and a rare chance to develop skills in mounting and managing events. This year, over 40 volunteers of all ages became part of the family of Bulgarian film, and the only requirement to them was to be fond of Bulgarian movies and dream of others loving them as much as they do.

Following the last year’s campaign for building a sensory garden, in 2015 we turn to music therapy as part of the therapeutic processes of children with special needs.

In 2014–2015, the music therapist of Karin Dom worked with 20 children in various conditions, affected by ASDs, Down’s syndrome, GDD, speech problems, sensory deficits, hyperactivity. During these months the kids showed stabilization in their condition, development in expressive language, adequate expression of various emotions through musical elements such as rhythm, tunes, harmonies, etc., stress reduction, improved communicative and cognitive performance.

Given the achieved for the time being results, Karin Dom believe that music therapy reaches the set therapeutic goals, motivating them to expand their activities and joining efforts with the physiotherapists to work also with children affected by cerebral palsy and motor problems. Introducing music helps creating a nicer and lighter atmosphere, improving motor skills and in play situations with music and songs physiotherapy exercises are done.

We shall donate the funds raised from the sales of the posters and the catalogue of the Festival to acquiring musical instruments for children with special needs, to make music therapy even funnier and more effective.

Hopefully, many will lend a helping hand. The results of the campaign will be announced at the closing night.

Karin Dom Foundation is an active civil organization established in 1994 by Mr. Ivan Stancioff, former Bulgarian Ambassador to the UK and to the Republic of Ireland and ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs.
